#From Self-Defense Forces to an Engineer with No Prior Experience
Turning New Challenges into Confidence From a Completely Different World: How I Got My 'Engineer Brain'
When I joined, I couldn't even type well! But I thought, 'Nobody is perfect at first.' I studied hard every day and slowly learned new skills. Many people think engineers are quiet and shy. But actually, this is a perfect job for 'athletic types' who never give up and keep trying hard!
Now, I have a true engineering mind! When I look at systems in the city, I naturally think: 'How does this work behind the scenes?' Changing my career from the Self-Defense Forces was a big challenge. But moving forward one step at a time built the solid confidence I have today.
#Reason for changing jobs
Even though I had no experience, they saw me for who I am. From the Self-Defense Forces to SUN.
I joined the Self-Defense Forces right after graduating from high school, and my days there—filled with lessons in discipline and responsibility—were incredibly fulfilling. However, because I was frequently transferred to different regions, I decided to switch careers to the IT industry, hoping to “live near my family in the future while acquiring the skills to support myself.
At the time, my biggest concern was whether there was an environment that would truly nurture someone with no experience like me. But SUN was totally different. In the interview, they didn't care only about my past background. They deeply cared about who I am and what I wanted to become in the future.
Also, the interviewer was very honest. They told me not only the fun parts but also the hard parts of the job. I trusted them deeply. I thought, 'I can grow with confidence here, and I want to do my best at SUN!' This was the biggest reason I joined.
#Career so far
From the disciplined world of the Self-Defense Forces to an engineer who brings technology to life
I worked in the Self-Defense Forces for about three years. After that, I started my engineer career with zero experience. At first, my senior colleagues taught me everything from the basics. I learned simple coding to make office work faster and easier, and I got real work experience day by day.
From there, I slowly learned more high-level tech skills. Now, I help clients build their business systems. I do everything on projects: listening to client needs, designing, coding, and testing! Recently, my company trusted me with a big new job: leading a large-scale system migration.
I started my career in a completely different world. But now, I am in my sixth year at SUN! I have grown a lot. Today, I don't just follow rules. I can share my own good ideas to make our team better and support everyone.
