#From the Humanities to Engineering

Starting with 'How I Want to Work': A Liberal Arts Graduate's Choice to Enter Tech

I majored in the humanities in college, so when I started my job hunt, I wasn’t thinking about becoming an engineer. But as I explored different industries and asked myself, 'How do I want to work in the future?', I realized I wanted to acquire a practical skill. That desire grew stronger and stronger.
As AI changes how we work, I wanted to learn skills that I could always rely on. Since I’ve always been comfortable using computers, I believed I could take on the challenge of the IT industry. This confidence is why I decided to become an engineer.
Looking back, I had many doubts during my job hunt. However, I am really glad that I was able to choose a path I am genuinely happy with.

#Reason for changing jobs

SUN responded to my desire to expand my horizons by saying, “Let’s figure this out together.

I worked as an engineer at my first company. I wanted to grow more, so I decided to change my job. I reached a big milestone in my life. I did not want to stay in the same comfortable place. I wanted to try new technologies and enter the next step of my career.
At that time, I found SUN. I really liked the company because they do good things for society. Also, their big goal is to help every employee grow. This idea moved my heart deeply.
Even though I wasn’t entirely sure which direction to take in my future career, the fact that they told me, “Let’s figure it out together,” gave me a huge boost and helped me decide to join the company. I remember feeling truly comforted by their warmth and willingness to accept my thoughts exactly as they were.

#Message to those who will join in the future

Don't Limit Yourself Because of Your Major: Take Your First Step!

Even if you are a humanities major, it is okay. In this job, you can get new skills slowly while you work. Many people think the IT world has only men, but that is not true. Women can also build their careers at their own pace and stay in this field for a long time.
At SUN, people will listen to you. Even if you don’t know what you want to do yet, they will help you find the answer. In this office, I can move forward step by step with my team. That is why I can enjoy my work without too much stress.
It is sad to give up just because you are a humanities major. If you have even a little interest, please be brave and try it! A wonderful new world of engineering is waiting for you.
