Nakasone, President & CEO of SUN, was appointed to the board of directors of the Japan Association for the Employment of Foreign Nationals

We are pleased to announce that SUN Co., Ltd. (Headoffice: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Shumpei Nakasone) has been appointed to the board of directors of the Japan Association for the Employment of Foreign Nationals, effective July 1, 2022.

■ About the board of directors of the Japan Association for the Employment of Foreign Nationals JAEFN
Established in 2016 to create an environment in which high caliber foreign nationals, who are familiar with the Japanese language, culture, and business customs, can play a fully active role in the Japanese business community. The JAEFN activities include improving government policies and systems, creating a welcoming environment on the corporate side, and developing foreign human resources who can adapt to Japanese business society.

■ SUN’s efforts to employ foreign nationals
SUN is actively hiring foreign nationals with the goal of increasing the percentage of foreign nationals to 30% of its employees. A diverse work environment with employees who have different languages, cultures, and ways of thinking brings new values, skills, and flexible thinking to the company. We also actively hire engineers with limited Japanese language skills at the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N3 and N4 levels. We believe that improving their Japanese language skills while utilizing our own Japanese language learning app materials and developing excellent human resources who can incorporate the latest technology from overseas will lead to significant growth of the company.

■ SUN’s effort to support foreign residents
SUN is developing a business to support foreign residents in Japan. We provide “KURASHI STUDY”, a Japanese language learning app, and “Kurashi Japan”, a lifestyle information website for foreign residents in Japan, both of which were developed in-house.

KURASHI STUDY is a story-based Japanese learning app that teaches Japanese grammar, expressions, vocabulary, and pronunciation through conversation. With a total of 96 scenes based on Japanese life, you can also learn the rules of life and administrative rules necessary for living in Japan. All conversations are audio-recorded, so you can improve your Japanese “reading, listening, and speaking” skills just by using the app, without going to school. The app also has an “Online Japanese Conversation (Talk)*” service that allows you to take private lessons with a professional Japanese language teacher. You can freely ask for help with things you don’t understand in your independent study, or with any problems you may have in your life in Japan. It also conforms to the scope and format of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), and is recommended for those aiming to acquire N5 to N2 levels.
