We released the Japanese language learning app “KURASHI STUDY” in Japan on March 3, 2021. After that, we started sales in Bangladesh and India as our first overseas expansion. With your support, we have now achieved over 10000 downloads.<\/p>\n
Promoting ICT in Japanese language education by using “KURASHI STUDY”<\/b>
\nDuring Covid-19, face-to-face communication is restricted. “Online” is attracting attention and a new way of Japanese language education is being explored. Post Covid-19, foreign employment in Japan will resume. The number of foreigners moving to Japan will increase, and the need for online Japanese language classes is expected to grow even more.
\nSUN will continue to promote the reform of Japanese language education by using ICT to provide more opportunities for foreigners living in Japan to learn Japanese.<\/p>\n
Supporting local Japanese language classes to go online<\/b>
\nJapanese language classes used to be held in local communities for foreigners living in Japan. However, due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, it has become difficult to hold such classes, and as a result, not enough opportunities to learn Japanese have been provided. In response to this, we have launched an initiative to support local governments, organizations, and companies that provide Japanese language education to foreign residents by offering online Japanese language classes using our app.<\/p>\n

\nOne of the reasons why online classes have not been introduced in the Japanese language education industry is that they are struggling to prepare new teaching materials and resources for online use. In the case of classrooms that used to use paper textbooks and handouts, it would take an enormous amount of time to prepare for the class because of the need to “recreate the class materials in PowerPoint” and “compile the materials into A4 size and send them by email as PDF”. Using “KURASHI STUDY” as a teaching tool, instructors and students can have the same teaching materials by just downloading the app to their smartphones. Grammar explanations, practice questions, and audio are also included in the app, making it effective for flipped learning.<\/p>\n
\nMany of the Japanese language classes held in the community are supported by volunteers who live in the area. Many of them have no experience in Japanese language education, but they participate and contribute to the community while learning Japanese language education. However, online class management is difficult for staff with little experience in Japanese language education, and there is a tendency for work to be delegated to experienced staff.
\n“KURASHI STUDY” helps even inexperienced staff to easily give Japanese lessons by following the flow of the app. Even if the instructor’s explanation is insufficient, students can switch the display language by simply pressing the app’s translation button and check the explanation themselves.
