Working closely with local staff and school officials, the project created a meaningful learning space that bridged countries and cultures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>What Is Sakura Girls\u2019 Secondary School?<\/b><\/span><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sakura Girls\u2019 Secondary School was established to promote girls\u2019 education in Tanzania.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The school is funded through the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects(Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan)<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the JICA Partnership Program (JPP), as well as donations from companies and individuals.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its operations are jointly run by the Japan-based<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sakura.vision\/gki\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Group Kilimanjaro Inc. <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the local NGO <\/span><b>Sakura Vision Tanzania<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, both of which are dedicated to improving educational environments and expanding the online lessons while learning popular Japanese youth slang and poses. It gave them a new perspective on the diversity of the Japanese language.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u30fb\u201dWe hope to keep spreading Japanese language and culture, working together with both high schools and universities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They noted how engaged the students were and expressed hopes that the cultural exchange will continue to grow.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><b><br \/>\nSchool Principal<br \/>\n<\/b><\/span><b>\u30fbReason for introducing the program:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To offer students an opportunity to learn an international language and deepen ties with Japan, with an eye toward future study abroad or exchange programs.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u30fb<\/span><b>Impression of the classes:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Students understood the content and participated enthusiastically.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u30fb<\/span><b>Student Reactions: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The students actively participated in the lessons, and their interest in Japan grew.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u30fb<\/span><b>Future plans:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To strengthen ties with Japan through ongoing online lessons and two-way educational and cultural exchange programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><b><br \/>\nStudents<\/b><\/span><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25a0 Before the lessons:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u30fb\u201cI knew about Japan from movies and novels.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u30fbMy impression of Japan was that it was the country where the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and many people lost their lives.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25a0 After the lessons:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u30fb\u201cI learned that Japan is technologically advanced and that the economy continues to develop every day.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u30fb\u201cIt was fun to learn about Japanese youth culture, especially the popular poses.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The classes sparked curiosity about Japanese school life, traditional culture, sports, everyday expressions, and much more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>SUN\u2019s Next Steps<\/b><\/span><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inspired by this initiative, SUN aims to create more opportunities for future international students and workers to learn about Japanese culture and strengthen their language skills <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">before<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> coming to Japan\u2014helping society move toward a more inclusive and multicultural future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This initiative demonstrated the powerful potential of connecting learning across borders through online education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We welcome collaboration with educational institutions and organizations.
