SUN Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Shumpei Nakasone; hereafter \u201cSUN\u201d) held online lessons introducing Japanese language and culture at <\/span>Sakura Girls\u2019 Secondary School<\/a><\/strong> in Tanzania as part of its global Japanese education support initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n

Across four sessions, many students joined the classes and experienced the Japanese language for the very first time. Working closely with local staff and school officials, the project created a meaningful learning space that bridged countries and cultures.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What Is Sakura Girls\u2019 Secondary School?<\/b><\/span>
\n<\/b>Sakura Girls\u2019 Secondary School was established to promote girls\u2019 education in Tanzania.<\/span>
\n<\/span>The school is funded through the <\/span>Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects(Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan)<\/span><\/i>, the JICA Partnership Program (JPP), as well as donations from companies and individuals.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Its operations are jointly run by the Japan-based<\/span> Group Kilimanjaro Inc. <\/span><\/a>and the local NGO <\/span>Sakura Vision Tanzania<\/b>, both of which are dedicated to improving educational environments and expanding learning opportunities for female students.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/b>\u30fb\u201cIt was wonderful to see students enjoying the online lessons while learning popular Japanese youth slang and poses. It gave them a new perspective on the diversity of the Japanese language.\u201d<\/span>
\n<\/span>\u30fb\u201dWe hope to keep spreading Japanese language and culture, working together with both high schools and universities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\nStudents<\/b><\/span>
\n<\/b>\u25a0 Before the lessons:<\/span>
\n<\/span>\u30fb\u201cI knew about Japan from movies and novels.\u201d<\/span>
\n<\/span>\u30fbMy impression of Japan was that it was the country where the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and many people lost their lives.<\/span>
\n<\/span>\u25a0 After the lessons:<\/span>
\n<\/span> \u30fb\u201cI learned that Japan is technologically advanced and that the economy continues to develop every day.\u201d<\/span>
\n<\/span> \u30fb\u201cIt was fun to learn about Japanese youth culture, especially the popular poses.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The classes sparked curiosity about Japanese school life, traditional culture, sports, everyday expressions, and much more.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>SUN\u2019s Next Steps<\/b><\/span>
\n<\/b>Inspired by this initiative, SUN aims to create more opportunities for future international students and workers to learn about Japanese culture and strengthen their language skills <\/span>before<\/span><\/i> coming to Japan\u2014helping society move toward a more inclusive and multicultural future.<\/span><\/p>\n

This initiative demonstrated the powerful potential of connecting learning across borders through online education.<\/span><\/p>\n
